Quazi Design is a cutting edge craft company that transforms waste magazines into original accessories and interiors.
Quazi was co-founded in 2009 by Doron, a designer from the UK and Flotsam, the local magazine distributors. Doron became the driving force behind the enterprise. As we do, they believe that the combination of craftsmanship and innovation is a powerful tool to promote stability in the developing world. All products are handmade and utilise 100% waste magazines.
In 2011 they opened a retail shop in Swaziland at the Ngwenya Glass complex near the Oshoek border to South Africa and haven’t looked back since, building relationships with distributors in Europe, the US, and Australia.
Recently Quazi expanded its business to include interior products, this ambitious project utilises the same techniques of rolling or layering paper. This time Quazi is creating furniture and lighting pieces that are just plain captivating.
The Handmade Home Collection includes a stool/side-table, pendant and table lamps, printed cushions and decorative bowls. The new range is inspired by the kind of contemporary designs usually made from more expensive materials and with more sophisticated manufacturing processes, which makes Quazi’s use of paper all the more intriguing. Paper takes on a substantial quality, resembling stone, felt and wood.
