Ed Suter is a photographer based in Cape Town. He was born in England but grew up in South Africa and after university went to live in New York for 5 years and London for 12 years. While in London, Ed studied photography and in 2006 he returned to South Africa to work as a photographer.
Ed is inspired by the vibrancy of the street life we all come across daily in South Africa and a few years ago he began shooting street style photographs of fashion, graphics and street art. These photographs were published in 2012 as a collection called “Sharp Sharp” which looks at all the great style on the streets of Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
What we love about his work is that he uses his proudly South Africa images to create a range of products such as tableware (we love the placemats, see three of them below), fabrics and others for some of South Africa’s leading retailers. His products is also available online.
As we have said many times before South Africa has a unique aesthetic and super talented designers, when this is combined with good business sense we can change South Africa one placemat at a time.
